The passion for good food...
A passion for good food and the desire to share it can't be learned; it's in our DNA. This is certainly true of the Camponeschi family, which boasts three generations of hosts who have each, in their own way, left their mark on haute cuisine, fine wine, and, above all, the refined yet discreet hospitality expected in an elegant and exclusive setting.
The Camponeschi family...
The Camponeschi family has been dedicated to the art of winemaking since 1968, when Marino Camponeschi opened his namesake winery in the Lanuvini hills, near the Appian Way Archaeological Park. Here, Marino began to passionately cultivate 20 hectares of select vineyards, which still today produce excellent wines, including the Carato Rosso, Malvasia, Shiraz, Vetus, and the Camponeschi Brut, a highly regarded sparkling wine made using the Classic Method.
In this extraordinary setting...
Nestled in this extraordinary setting is the Camponeschi Restaurant, opened in 1987 by two visionaries: Marino Camponeschi, along with the then very young Alessandro. Piazza Farnese and the restaurant have enjoyed a 30-year partnership that has brought an unforgettable experience and view to Rome's historic center and a constellation of high-class gourmets. During the summer, dining in this exclusive and prestigious oasis is absolutely irresistible, reserving a table on the terrace where you can enjoy all the splendor of this enchanting square, a tribute to Renaissance art.
A gathering place...
A meeting place with a wine list that ranges from international and Italian labels (including Camponeschi wines) and legendary cocktails curated by the friendly bartender Franco.
Piazza Farnese is one of...
Piazza Farnese is one of the most beautiful squares in Rome—that much is beyond doubt—and there's something here that has captivated the heart for centuries. Here stands Palazzo Farnese, commissioned by Cardinal Alessandro Farnese, who later became Pope Pius III, recognized as one of the greatest patrons of the Italian Renaissance. Added to this is the allure of the pair of fountains, the Convent-Church of Santa Brigida, the Palazzo del Gallo di Roccagiovane, and the Palazzo Mandosi Mignanelli. Great artists and architects of the time contributed to Palazzo Farnese: Antonio da Sangallo, Michelangelo Buonarroti, Vignola, and Giacomo della Porta. It was in 1626 that architect Girolamo Rainaldi was able to transform the two initially ornamental fountains into the pair of fountains that adorn the square.
Today Claudio and Marina...
Today, Claudio and Marina Camponeschi, Alessandro's siblings, continue Marino's passion by masterfully managing the family winery and applying the most modern winemaking technology to ancient winemaking traditions—such as hand-picking.
Here we talk and live...
Here we discuss and experience art and culture by establishing a direct and informal relationship with the artists who bring the wine bar to life.
The wine bar, a place where...
The wine bar, a place where eclecticism reigns supreme, is an annex of the restaurant that over the years has become a meeting place not only for lovers of fine wine, but also for numerous cultural and entertainment personalities, contemporary artists, and creatives from all disciplines.
In a Roman-chic setting...
In a setting of Roman chic excellence, for 30 years Piazza Farnese has been the favorite location of heads of state, internationally renowned entrepreneurs, diplomats, nobles, VIPs, artists, designers, athletes, actors, and singers who want to experience Rome while enjoying great traditional cuisine and relaxing away from prying eyes.
I grew up in the restaurant...
I grew up in the restaurant on Via Aurora, where I spent the happiest moments of my family life. I was 23 when I opened in Piazza Farnese, and my father tried to dissuade me because he wanted me to pursue a career in law! But my love for Camponeschi was greater!
The Camponeschi Adventure...
The Camponeschis' adventure in the Roman restaurant world began in the 30s with Tommaso Camponeschi. In the 50s, his son Marino joined his father and siblings Benito and Rosa in opening one of the most popular restaurants of La Dolce Vita, frequented by the jet set. At the same time, he also created the Camponeschi Farm. Then, in the mid-80s, Alessandro, the third and current generation, joined the family, opening the Camponeschi Restaurant in Piazza Farnese, a premier location in central Rome.
Marino Camponeschi set a precedent...
Marino Camponeschi taught us a lesson here in Rome and was a renowned host during the Dolce Vita era. He had a passion for good taste, for raw materials, and for wine, which he particularly loved—he always went beyond mere knowledge; he wanted to create... and he succeeded: the Camponeschi winery and label are living proof of this.
Since we opened...
Since we opened the restaurant, we've always worked in synergy, complementing each other: he taught me tradition, I brought innovation. We've taken care of every detail, from the furnishings to the objects that make the atmosphere so precious yet welcoming, relaxing, and familiar.
Definitely those of mine...
"Certainly those of my friends and clients who describe me as being in love with my profession. Then also the mention as the most aristocratic restaurant in the capital, written by a well-known Roman noblewoman in her book on excellence in Rome."
The Camponeschi Restaurant is located...
Camponeschi Restaurant is located in a 600th-century building. The Renaissance-style furnishings, embellished with Modern Art paintings, exude mystery and elegance. Seven rooms, magnificently designed by architect Marina Camponeschi, feature exquisite attention to every luxurious detail, giving guests the feeling of intimacy in an exclusive salon.
This international lounge is always...
This international lounge is always popular with the stars, becoming a must-visit during their visits to Rome. Evenings at Camponeschi can quickly become exciting and sophisticated. Boredom is a thing of the past at Camponeschi!
